FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

March 31, 2000

MSD recently acquired a piece of property that will serve as its new centralized maintenance facility.

The 25-acre site located on the southeast corner of Cane Run Road and Algonquin Parkway (the former Big A Shopping Center (3401 Cane Run Road). The site includes a 198,000 square foot building that had been used as a distribution center.

The purchase price was $4.67 million. It will take approximately one year to renovate and modify the site to fit MSD’s operational requirements.

The site will be the staging point for all sanitary and stormwater maintenance personnel, equipment and materials. In addition, MSD Regulatory Management Services Division – Field Operation, Fleet Maintenance and Record Waste Management Department will operate from this facility. The new site will eliminate the need for current sites at Cable Street and Seventh Street. MSD’s goal is to operate from this centralized location, which will improve efficiency, save resources and provide a quicker response to customer requests and project needs.
