As part of MSD's
overall program to reduce or eliminate inflow and infiltration
(I&I) of clear water from entering the sewer system, the agency
employs local students, on a part time basis, to identify sources of
inflow and infiltration.
The students are
under supervision of their teachers and employees of PDR Engineers and
ClasSickles, Inc. The program is a partnership of Jefferson County
Public School, the Louisville Education Employment Partnership and MSD.
This week, the
students will be placing markers on curb drains that advise residents
not to dump hazardous materials into drains. The markers are permanent
reminders that only rain water should go into the drainage system. The
goal is to improve water quality and to raise public awareness.
Below is a
schedule and a list of contacts should you be interested in this
project.
