LG&E AND
LOJIC BEGIN NEW GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION AGREEMENT
The Louisville
and Jefferson County Information Consortium (LOJIC) and Louisville Gas
and Electric Company (LG&E) have entered into an agreement to
exchange digital map data as an important step toward providing our
community with more consistent geographic information. LOJIC is a
geographic information system (GIS) partnership among the City of
Louisville, Jefferson County, the Property Valuation Administrator's
Office, the Louisville Water Company and the Louisville/Jefferson
County Metropolitan Sewer District.
Through this
agreement, LG&E will use detailed digital mapping from the LOJIC
GIS as the basis for mapping gas and electric facilities throughout
Jefferson County. LG&E's facility mapping will be ported to the
LOJIC GIS for use by consortium partners. The addition of LG&E
facilities mapping will make the LOJIC GIS a more important resource
for emergency response, planning and development. LOJIC GIS also
contains information on zoning, properties, addresses, topography,
orthoimagery, floodplains and sewer facilities.
This new
relationship between LG&E and the LOJIC partners marks an
important step in making our community one of the premier national
sites to use and maintain a shared GIS.
