The Louisville
and Jefferson County Metropolitan Sewer District is in the final
stages of construction of a new $70 million Alternative Solids
Process. It is the largest single capital project ever undertaken
in MSD's 56-year history.
The new
process eliminates the primary cause of foul odors that have
plagued Western Louisville for years. It also provides a product
(in pellet form) that is safe and suitable for land application as
a soil enhancer.
Other
benefits include significant energy savings and reduced loading in
landfills.
To formally
dedicate this significant community improvement, MSD will conduct
a facility tour at the Morris Forman Wastewater Treatment Plant on
Friday, May 17, 2002, at 10:00 A.M. Members of the media are cordially invited to
attend the tour and dedication ceremony.
