The Ohio River
reached 27.9 feet, on the Upper Gauge this morning. It is
projected to crest at 28.4 feet on Wednesday.
On the Lower Gauge, the
Ohio River is projected to crest on Wednesday morning at 58.5
feet, which is 3.5 feet above flood stage.
MSD has erected
floodwall closures at Tenth and Main Streets,27th Street at
McAlpine Locks, Riverport, and a portion of the 2nd Street
floodwall closure as a precautionary measure. If river projections
are revised upward, it can be closed completely.
Currently, MSD has
placed flood pumping stations in service at:
- Buchanan Street (Butchertown)
- Fourth Street
(Downtown)
- Western (West
Louisville)
- Upper Mill Creek
(Pleasure Ridge)
- Lower Mill Creek
(Valley Station)
- Riverport (Pleasure
Ridge)
- Pond Creek (Valley
Station)
- Beargrass Creek (Butchertown)
- 5th Street
(Downtown)
- 10th Street
(Downtown)
- Bingham Way
(Downtown)
- 34th Street
- Paddy’s Run (Rubbertown)
Louisville Metro Public
Works closes roads in conjunction with incrementally rising river
levels. Currently closed are:
- River Road from 4th
Street to 7th Street, and from Blankenbaker to Indiana Hills
Trail;
- Mockingbird Valley
Road between River Road and Mellwood Avenue;
- Juniper Beach Road, and
- Transylvania Beach Road.
The water is affecting
traffic on most of River Road, from Blankenbaker to downtown.
Motorists are urged to use alternate routes.
Roads and homes along
the river, especially in areas such as Waldoah Beach, Juniper
Beach, Transylvania Beach and Beachland Beach are inaccessible.
