Beargrass
Creek Clean Sweep, March 11, 2006
On Saturday, March 11
at 9:00 A.M. through noon and again at 1:00 P.M. through 4:00
P.M., MSD is partnering with Living Lands and Waters, and the
Partnership for a Greener City to host a volunteer cleanup along
Beargrass Creek at the Louisville Rowing Club. This is an
opportunity for volunteers to help clean up the Ohio River.
Volunteers will meet at Louisville Rowing Club located off River
Road behind Stop Lite Liquor. CLEANUP WILL TAKE PLACE RAIN OR
SHINE. A brief discussion on safety rules and potential
hazards during the cleanup will be given and then volunteers load
up into Living Lands and Waters work boats and head out to the
pre-designated garbage sites along the shorelines and islands of
the river. Life vests, gloves, bags will be provided to the
volunteers, along with snacks and beverages after the cleanup.
Dress suitably for the weather rain or shine and the riverbank
trash collecting activity.

Living Lands & Waters
will be hosting a month-long cleanup of the Ohio River in
Louisville, Kentucky in March. Living Lands and Waters is also
joining up with the Partnership for a Green City, the University
of Louisville, MSD, and other local groups to host an Alternative
Spring Break the week of March 13-19. This is an opportunity for
students and faculty to help clean up the Ohio River.
