June 8, 2009 Board Meeting Summary

Mr. Schardein advised that the Ohio River Sweep will take place on Saturday, June 20th from 9AM to 12 noon. Various collection sites are scheduled for Hayes Kennedy Park, Juniper Beach Area, Cox Park, Eva Bandman Park, Shawnee Park and Riverview Park.

Mr. Schardein and several other staff attended the Five Cities Conference in St. Louis, Missouri. The Five Cities Conference is made up of municipalities from St. Louis, Missouri, Cincinnati and Columbus, Ohio, Indianapolis, Indiana and Louisville, Kentucky. Mr. Schardein advised that he had the opportunity to converse with other directors on consent decrees their cities are facing. In comparison, Metro Louisville is very fortunate in its $840 million consent decree, while the other cities are looking at numbers in the billions of dollars.
