August 10, 2009 Board Meeting Summary

Mr. Schardein gave a report on the aftermath of the rainstorm event of August 4, 2009, and commended the staff who worked the streets when our community received seven inches of rain in an hour and a half.

Mr. Schardein commended Dan Baily and Glenn (Pat) Busby for their heroism during the rain event of August 4th in rescuing someone that had driven in a flooded viaduct at 7th & Berry Streets. Roger Thomas and Tom Kuhn were also branded heroes as they made a rescue on Algonquin Parkway.

Mr. Schardein reiterated that all MSD facilities were operational and experienced no failures during the event.

Mr. Schardein announced the following awards received from the National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA):

2008 Gold Award-Cedar Creek WTP, Morris Forman WTP, Berrytown WTP, Glennview Bluff WTP, North Huntington Creek WTP, Ken Carla WTP, Starview Estates WTP, Silver Heights WTP,

2008 Silver Award – Hite Creek WTP, West County (Derek R. Guthrie Water Quality Treatment Center), Floyds Fork WTP, Bancroft WTP, Chenoweth Hills WTP, Huntington Creek South WTP, Lake of the Woods WTP, Timberlake WTP, Chenoweth Run (Lake Forest) WTP, Shadow Woods WTP, Yorktown WTP

The following were approved:
