MSD encourages customers to toss expired drugs properly
Louisville-area agencies will sponsor six opportunities for residents to properly dispose of expired prescription
drugs and other medications from May 20 to May 22.

Public Meetings: Integrated Overflow Abatement Plan (IOAP)
The Louisville & Jefferson County Metropolitan Sewer District (MSD) hereby gives notice of its intent to hold a series of public meetings to
present information and receive public comment relative to the Integrated Overflow Abatement Plan (IOAP). This plan is being prepared by MSD in
response to its Consent Decree with the USEPA and the Kentucky Environmental and Public Protection Cabinet dated August 12, 2005. MSD intends to
review the overall IOAP approach for complying with this Consent Decree, and to present preliminary information related to potential capital construction
projects that may be required as a result of the plan. Public comment is desired on both the compliance approach and on potential projects that may result.

Statistics from X-Stream Clean Sweep, March 15, 2008
The First X-Stream Clean Sweep was a huge success but it wouldn't have happened without the
143 registered volunteers, Living Lands and Waters, and other partners. It stopped raining from 8:30am to 1pm.
Despite the mud, slop and slide, 403 bags of trash was hauled away by Metro Waste Management.
283 tires (1 tractor, 35 car, 5 semi tractor trailer) were pulled out of the streams plus
2 refrigerators, 3 water heaters, 1 air conditioner, 1 TV, 8 propane tanks, 15 metal barrels, and 7 shopping carts. Miscellaneous objects included, a swing set, car parts, fencing, mattresses, and 1 orange bowling ball.

MSD Fats, Oils and Grease (FOG) Program

form, click

If you have any problems downloading the form or need other
assistance, please contact MSD Customer Relations at 587-0603 and they
will take your contact information over the phone and send you a form. Once
the Senior Citizen Discount Application has been submitted, review and
processing will be completed within 30-45 days and customers will receive a
status letter. If the application is approved, it may take between 45-60
days for the discount to appear on the Louisville Water Company bill.

Project WIN public meetings to
highlight overflow abatement plan
MSD invites its customers to a series of public meetings to
learn about and discuss an Integrated Overflow Abatement Plan, a
component of Project WIN. During this series of eight
neighborhood meetings, MSD will present information regarding
potential capital construction projects that may be required as
a result of the plan. Public input and participation is
requested.

New Products and Pre-Approved Sources
Manufacturers and suppliers that desire to have their products,
materials and supplies pre-approved for construction by MSD must
follow specific guidelines
and procedures.

Rain Barrel Sources
MSD now has rain barrels assembled for public sale. To assist with sale and distribution of the barrels MSD has partnered with the Louisville Nature Center (LNC) to reserve, sell, and schedule pick up times. The cost of one rain barrel is $70, or $65 for 2 or more barrels. Each rain barrel comes with installation and maintenance instructions. The LNC phone number is 458-1328 and is located across from the Louisville Zoo at 3745 Illinois Avenue.
