Dunaway Engineering, Inc.

Kim Dunaway established Dunaway Engineering, Inc. in 1986, with two engineering principals providing general civil engineering and land surveying services.

In 1989 the firm's relationship with MSD began with the submittal of stormwater grading/drainage plans. By early 1992, Dunaway was certified by Supplier Diversity, and began regularly working on MSD projects by providing surveying services to other engineering firms.

Now Dunaway Engineering boasts successful past and continuing projects with several local firms including Quest Engineers, CH2M Hill, Strand/PEH and Omni Engineers.

Dunaway also provides engineering services directly to MSD. "We have built friendships with staff at MSD and other firms through our daily interaction on projects. Sometimes we feel like an extension of their offices and have learned how to work as a strong team," Dunaway said.

Supplier Diversity certification has brought other benefits. "The opportunities this has provided minimizes marketing efforts to find new projects," Dunaway said. "Most of our business comes from repeat clients and many choose us because we are Supplier Diversity-certified."

Now with a staff of 12 engineers, surveyors and support staff, Dunaway Engineering's clients include Louisville Water Co., Philip Morris, University of Louisville, Metro Parks, HNTB and the Regional Airport Authority. The firm is relocating to new offices in July 2001 and anticipates revenues will nudge $1.2 million for 2001.
