Drainage Service Area MSD's drainage service boundary is defined by agreements with City and County government. In those situations where public drainage problems are located at the borders of these service boundaries, MSD may coordinate with the adjacent agency to determine the most appropriate agency responsible for the solution. In most cases, a joint effort will be required. Monthly Drainage Fee Our customers' drainage fee is paid bi-monthly through the Louisville Water Company, which is MSD's billing and collection agent. This drainage fee enables MSD to provide stormwater services for various drainage programs. Plan Approval Fee for Development Outside the Service Area The MSD Board has established a schedule of fees to be paid by developers to help defray the cost of drainage services that MSD furnishes for the approval of plans for proposed drainage facilities to be built outside MSD's drainage service area. Regional Facilities Fee New developments are sometimes required to build stormwater drainage facilities in accordance with MSD master plans for such facilities. Regional facilities serving more than a single development, such as a retention basin, are in some instances more appropriate and more cost-effective than larger drainage channels. Developers whose developments are serviced by regional facilities share the facilities' capital cost based on the capacity that each development requires. MSD's ownership of regional facilities ensures proper facility operation and maintenance. |
