Project Description

 

The project involves excavation of the stream bank to create more flood volume storage. Stream restoration techniques will also be utilized to create a meandering stream instead of a straight channel. Native vegetation will be used to restore the area. The project limits extend upstream from I-65 beyond Preston Highway.

 

 

Need

 

The United States Corps of Engineers has teamed with MSD to construct several flood reduction projects in the Pond Creek Watershed. These projects will increase the amount of storage volume of the channels and reduce the damaging effects of flood events in the area.
