Northern Flicker

Length: 12.75-14 inches Song: In the breeding season it sings wick-er wick-er. But it normally sounds like klee-yer or clearrrr.
Wingspan: 19-21 inches Behavior: It is the most teritorial woodpecker in North America . They are noisy to get rid of there predators.
Weight: 4.8 ounces Breeding: Monogamus. Solitary nester.
Habitat: Forest edges,open forests, and grass lands Population: They are common.
Migration: Most don’t migrate Feeders: Ants and other insects that live in trees.
Appearance: red on the back crown, gray crown, tan face, black mustache, gray nape, white underparts with black spots, brown and black wings with black barring.
Interesting Facts: A single Flicker contains 3,000 ants. A similar bird is the Gilded Flicker.
